On Daybreaker, Beth Orton blazes her own trail, though less influenced by the electronic and jazzy sounds of former albums, in favor of a more conventional, traditional approach. Beth is joined by Emmylou Harris on "God's Song," and by Ryan Adams on "Concrete Sky," who wrote the spare song, "This One's Gonna Hurt." But it is Beth's gutsy vocals that steal the show.
