18, 2002 Beck: "Sea Change"
Sea
Change reunites Beck with Mutations producer Nigel Godrich. By Beck's own admission
'Sea Change' is largely influenced by folk and country music. It's an emotional,
somber album that contains some of his most personal lyrics to date. Usually Beck's
voice is used as another element of an exotic sound collage, but here he demonstates
his ability to be raw and emotional. This is not Beck the absurd, abstract genre
splicer, but Beck the bummed-out singer-songwriter.
