Martin Sexton, presented by mvyradio/88.7 WMVY and Passim

On Friday, August 4th mvyradio/88.7 WMVY and Passim present Martin Sexton at The Old Whaling Church in Edgartown in a special benefit concert for these two great music non-profits.

Martin Sexton is an American singer-songwriter and has released nine studio albums blending soul, gospel, country, rock, blues, and R&B. A Syracuse native Sexton got his start singing in the streets and subways of Boston in the early 90’s. Still fiercely independent, headlining venues from The Fillmore to Carnegie Hall, and performing at festivals from Bonnaroo to New Orleans Jazz Fest, he has influenced a generation of contemporary artists. His songs have appeared in television series such as Scrubs, Parenthood, Masters of Sex and in numerous films, though it’s his incendiary live show, honest lyrics, and vocal prowess that keep fans coming back for more. 7pm Doors, 7:30 show.

mvyradio/88.7 FM WMVY is a non-profit, independent radio station, with a four decade history on Martha’s Vineyard. Passim is a non-profit arts organization located in Cambridge, MA dedicated to presenting the best in folk and acoustic music and helping artists develop at all stages of their careers.
