that work for you. Here's a comprehensive

Vineyard, Cape Cod, Nantucket, as well as 96.5 W243AI

On Your Computer This
is how most of you listen to mvyradio.com and its
likely you already have your favorite application
for doing that. But, just in case youd like
to sample some of the other ways, here they are:
iTunes and Windows Media Player, both non-commercial.
And, if you ever want to turn one of your friends
on to mvyradio, tell them to look under Eclectic
in iTunes and under Adult Rock on Windows
Media.
WiFi Internet
Radios
Youve no doubt heard of all the cool new internet
desktop radios that have come on the market
the kind that work wirelessly (WiFi). And, no matter
which one you have, youll be able to find
mvyradio. Most of the time, youll be able
to find it listed as mvyradio, but there
are some where you can find us listed as WMVY
or under Alternative or Eclectic
or Album Rock sections. If youre
considering buying a WiFi internet radio, we highly
recommend the NetWorks Radio from Tivoli
Audio. On many cell phones you can choose between
your carrier and wifi. One may be preferable depending
on signal strength, location, mobile carrier and
plan etc.
Our Commercial
Stream
We have many folks who enjoy listening to Friends

hear the commercials you guys air?" Our commercial
stream includes some commercial content (though
fewer commercials than our FM broadcast), so you
can get the flavor of local businesses. We also
air Martha's Vineyard Regional High School Football,
every Fall, on our Commercial Stream. Just click
here and listen.

Specialty Music Channels
If you love mvyradios regular programming,
youll probably love our mymvy
channels, too. When youre in a mood to hear
nothing but Singer-Songwriter types (James Taylor,
Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell, etc.), theyre
all right there at our Singer-Songwriter
channel . If you grew up in the Sixties/Seventies,
you might like Retrograde.
While some of the artists are similar, this channel
is far more interesting than your typical Classic
Rock station and a great chance to catch up
on some music you may not have heard in awhile.
If you like Americana (Emmylou Harris, Lyle Lovett,
etc.) music, we have two choices one, our
Americana
channel . and, two, our MerleFest
channel which captures almost all of the performances
from the last five years at MerleFest (Doc Watson,
Sam Bush, The Duhks, and more). If you like unique
takes on songs, check out Alternate
Takes where you can hear some very interesting
live, acoustic, and cover versions. Our Newport
Folk Festival and Rhythm
and Roots channels are a great repository of
all the great performances from these historic events
artists like Joan Baez, Indigo Girls, Taj
Mahal, Donna the Buffalo, Little Feat, and Muddy
Waters. mymvys Blues
channel is a listener favorite, chock full of
Delta Blues, Texas Blues, Electric Blues, British
Blues, Chicago Blues all kinds of the Blues!
Great to put on at a party or a great backdrop when
youre feeling funky.
Podcasts
Simply put, podcasts are a just a fancy way of downloading
digital media. You need a podcatcher to grab the
podcasts to which you subscribe. We recommend iTunes
for this. You can also download our podcasts directly
at http://mvyradio.com/archives/
Shows: Blues @ 8, Uncharted Waters, Hot Seat, Local
MusiCafe, Just Four Guys, and Shakedown Stream.
Technical Notes
Your choice of stream will depend a lot on what
kind of audio software is installed on your mobile
device as well as how fast your mobile connection
is. General speaking, the higher the stream's kbps
(kilobits per second) number is, the higher the
quality of the stream is, and the higher the speed
is at which you will need to connect. Quality of
compression varies by format. For example, a 32
kbps Aac+ stream is of the same quality as an mp3
stream at 64 kbps. If you have a WML-only device,
you should connect to our stream by following the
directions on this
page.
For the best sound quality it is best to tune into
the highest bit rate stream that your mobile device
will play without dropping out. See your mobile
player's instructions to raise the cache time to
20 or 30 seconds. The stream will take longer to
load but it will be much less likely to drop out
to rebuffer.
